  9. As a midshipman cadet, served as helm officer aboard U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701) under command of Admiral James T. Kirk, during Project Genesis crisis in 2285.

Following Project Genesis incident, assigned to science research vessel U.S.S. Grissom, along with Dr. David Marcus, to conduct further study of the Genesis Planet. During planet survey mission, discovered rejuvenated, adolescent and rapidly aging body of Spock; accompanied him until he was rescued from the planet surface. 
  11. Returned to Vulcan with living body of Captain Spock  so that his "katra," or disembodied spirit,  could be reunited with his body through the Vulcan ritual of fal-tor-pan.  Refusion ceremony was successful.  Saavik remained on Vulcan to assist in the retraining of Spock's mind, and later chose to take an indefinite leave of absence from active duty in Starfleet. Currently resides on Vulcan.
